Phased Build

Also called: Iterative Development, Incremental Build

A software development strategy where the system is built and deployed in sequential phases, each delivering usable functionality. Each phase is informed by feedback from the previous one.

Why It Matters in Construction

Construction companies cannot afford to wait 12 months for software. Phased builds deliver value in weeks, reduce risk, and allow the system to evolve based on real operational feedback.

Common Examples

  • Phase 1: Daily reporting and photo documentation. Phase 2: Change order management. Phase 3: Billing integration.
  • Deploying core workflows first and adding automation after the team is comfortable with the base system.
  • Using feedback from field crews after Phase 1 to refine the interface before building Phase 2.
